Again about the birds of Costa Rica

After a short break, we continue to talk about the birds of Costa Rica and show them. Today we will talk about the iconic place known among the Berders - the biological station La Selva. It is in this protected area that the greatest concentration of species diversity of tropical fauna, including birds, is observed.
Olga has already told about our visit to the station, I will just show the representatives of this natural zoo.

Collar short-winged manakin (White-collared Manakin, Manacus candei) demonstrates its beauty. Like other representatives of the Manakinov family (Pipridae) males arrange group tournaments in which they parade in front of the female. I must say that I have not seen the males sequentially sit on a branch and alternately jump in front of the female, as is sometimes shown on television. They settled on different branches, but close enough to each other. It is possible that among manakins of this type, the mating proceeds according to its own laws.

Galloping through Costa Rica. Travel Notes Part 10 Story about Selva Verde Lodge

The toucan mentioned in the previous story indulged us with a daily feeding trough show at the Selva Verde Lodge. I managed to see the red-haired momot only once, and then only in passing. It's good that we noticed him when he was sitting in the dark green bushes, looking closely where he should land near the fruits.
